Throughout the riverside municipalities of Millingen aan de Rijn, Pannerden en Doornenburg, you’ll find a wide range of cycling and walking routes. These routes primarily cross through beautiful natural reserves and bring you along interesting landmarks and sights.
Pieterpad, (Dutch), walking route between Pieterburen, Groningen and Mount Saint Peter in South Limburg. The Hoch-Elten route toward Groesbeek utilises the Millingen aan de Rijn-Pannerden ferry connection.

Dutch Cyclists' Union (Fietsersbond)
Rondje Pontje, (Dutch), take this route along both of our ferry connections as well as the Pannerden – Doornenburg vehicle ferry and ‘knooppunten’ cycling junctions 81–94–72–71 –79–80–88–89–91.
Rhine Route, this cycling route forms the Dutch part of the famous International Rhine Route (EuroVelo 15), the 1230-kilometre long route from the source of the Rhine in Switzerland to the mouth at the North Sea. The 270-km long Rhine cycling route runs between Millingen and Hoek van Holland.

Region
Our ferryboats are active within The Gelderse Poort National Landscape. Rugged riverside nature along the Rhine and Waal coupled with the diverse flora and fauna are certainly worth visiting. Over the past years, agricultural land has made way for newfound nature; permitting the formation of ponds, marshes and wild foliage.
Various species now call this newly-formed area home. Beavers also inhabit the area thanks to the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund and the Staatsbosbeheer. You’ll also encounter wild Konik horses and Galloway cattle in addition to an abundance of birds and insects. During winter months, you’ll also find it an excellent place for spotting geese.
You too are welcome to freely roam the natural environments tucked away within the Gelderse Poort.
In addition to the natural reserves, you will undoubtedly be drawn to the wide range of other sights throughout the riverside municipalities of Millingen aan de Rijn, Doornenburg en Pannerden. Both Millingen aan de Rijn and the municipality of Pannerden/Lobith border Germany. Time for a bit of country-hopping. Villages such as Kleve and Emmerich are located within cycling distance (12 km and 20 km respectively).
